Hi does anyone know this my mom is in the S.I.C.U. for sepsis of the stomach what are her chances of survival?

sepsis is a medical term that means the bacteria has entered her bloodstream. This is a serious condition, however, people can be cured from it.A lot of factors involved.Good Luck to her

depends on the severity of her case. what do the doctors say?

also, if you post at the webmd messege boards, there are professionals that could answer better than most people here

It depends on a number of factors...each patient is different.

just want to say good luck hope she does ok

thoughts and prayers are sent your way. i dont know anything about it, but would like to send my regards.

Would depend on the underlying condition that allowed this to develop. Can you give more details?

If your septic the most important thing firstly is that her kidneys hold up. Providing that she doesn't go in into renal failure this would give her avery good chance of doing well. I take it she has had an operation. Given the right antibiotic's hopefully she'll do ok. take care

29.01% of cases of sepsis resulted in death in the US 2000-2002 (Patient Safety in American Hospitals, Health Grades 2004)

so your mom has a 71.99% chance of survival
