My mom has a colonoscopy bag after surgery on her colon? |
they say it may be for 3-6 months only is that true? she had a piece of her colon taken off due to sepsis Thank goodness your mom is getting better. If her physician says the bag isn't permanent he/she is in absolutely the best position to know. Although the situation is difficult and the reversal will be very difficult consider what a blessing it is that you still have your mom and that her prospects are so good. Why wouldn't you believe a Doctor? yeah just until her colon heals itself and she can go back to her norm functions if the docs told her 3-6 months, that is prob accurate Yes, it's true. Her colon has to heal, then they will reverse it. My brother went through the exact same thing a couple of years ago. The reconnection part was very tough on him as it takes awhile for the colon to start operating properly after reconnection. He did survive it all and is doing fine now. Yes, its true. My 72 yr old father-in-law had this done and his bag was taken off in 3 mths. Tell your mom good luck and will pray for her. my mom still has hers and its been 2 years, but everybody is different My mom had surgery like that but didn't need a bag. First of all, it is called a colostomy bag. Colonoscopy is the test they do to look into your colon to see what's wrong. It's true it could be reversed after a few months. Best of luck. I had this surgery and wore the bag one year. You have to go by what the surgeon says and mine said the long the better. When mine was reversed, the bag was gone and after some healing it is just like it never happen. I hope she has the disposable bags, no need to empty anything, you just throw it away. If she is using something else she should speak with an ostomy nurse. Cholostomy bags are permenant. |
