My scalp itches and is full of red spots. How can I cure this? Selenium Sulfide didn't work...?

Hi,

It is about 4 years or so that my scalp itches badly. Red acne-like spots are spread over my scalp as well... I have changed the shampoo I use three times during this period but this didn't change anything. I have also visited a doctor and he prescribed Selenium Sulfide (once) and another shampoo (a year later) that I can't remember its name (it was pink liquid) but they didn't work as well. Any ideas how can I cure my itching scalp? Is Dermin 1% Coal Tar suitable for fighting my problem?

Lots of thanks in advance...

Coal tar might help. That's the active ingredient in Nutrogena T Gel.You can also try T Sal with salicylic acid to help the sloughing process and unclog the pores while removing dead skin cells.
I'm surprised your doctor didn't recommend that you supplement selenium in tablet or capsule form.Selenium is linked to curing such ailments of the scalp as is vitamin C.C governs the circulation of your scalp along with some other vitamins.Biotin may also help as it's responsible for the health of the follicle.
Shen Min is a company I've used products from. They're primarily for thinning hair but have many more benefits.Do a search for that name and you'll get a few hits.
The fact of the matter is it sounds like psoriasis and not seborric dermatitis. You'll need to see a dermatologist if it is.

not unless you wan to be bald i think you should use acne products they work my friend had a problem like that.

Yes, get the coal tar....it's T-Gel, get it, it's the BEST!
