I was wondering about adverse effects of too many vitamines....? |
I plan on increasing my intake of vitamines, minerals, fish oils, calcium, etc. Anyone out there know of a chart stating the adverse effects of overdose or toxicity on vitamines? I would be greatly appreciative of ANY leads or direct knowledge. I'm a little worried I can toxify my system if I mix and match, like if lutein and selenium might be harmful taken together in certain amounts. You can end up harming your liver if you take too many vitamins or any other supplement. The best thing to do is go to a nutritionist who can help you figure out what vitamins and supplements you need and at what amounts. It's much better to be safe than sorry. From what I've heard, its like filling a glass with water. After a while it will spill over. So... what you're getting too much of, your body will flush out. What vitamins in particular are you taking? How much? How often? I don't see why you'd want more than 100% of your recommended daily allowance. Overdosing on vitamins is not a good thing. A,D are two that can accumulate as well as iron. Some vitamins just wash away when you have too much but you can get liver damage by taking the wrong kind. Google liver, vitamins to obtain articles. My doctor told me to increase fresh vegies and fruits (See Dash Diet) and that an diet pills were unnecessary and potientially harmful. Best of luck. No-you can overdose on Vitamin A & D. Too much C can cause kidney stones! Please read up on all of it before you go after it! |
