Never had acne as a teenager... why now? What to do?

I never had a problem with acne as a teenager - I didn't even have to wash my face at night! I used to use Stridex foaming facewash but, unfortunately, it's been discontinued. In the past year (I'll be 25 in May) I've noticed that my skin has been getting worse and worse. It's horribly embarrassing, I don't even want to leave my house. It seems to have started when I lose a good amount of weight last year (38 lbs). I'm trying everything now. I'm currently trying the Derma-E clear skin products. It's only been a week but, I'm still getting new pimples.
Are there vitamins I could take? I've heard B5, B6, E, Zinc, Selenium, C, etc. I'm actually looking into the Orovo Kit, has anyone tried it? What about Zyporex? I'd rather not spend a fortune but, if that's what it takes, I will. I refuse to use Benzoyl Peroxide, because of the horrible effects it has on your skin. My skin has also become oily. Somebody help.

I use all natural products on my skin.

I had the same issues lately and had to go to a dermatologist. He gave me a very very mild script for benzoyl peroxide wash, a topical gel to use at night and and antibiotic that I have to take once a day (just for a few weeks). The antibiotic has helped a lot and I know you're against the peroxide, but a mild one may reduce scarring and keep your skin from producing a ton of oil. And drinking tons of water has helped, too.

Thank you for your help! :) Report It

Acne is never fun and there are several sensible things you can do to help your situation. Always remember to eat clean healthy food and stay away from junk food as much as possible, and drink tons of pure water. If you have a severe case, go into your local guru in holistic medicine and see what solutions they can offer. There some tremendous natural remedies that can help and I have had great success with mine doing this. I also visited my dermatologist, he helped tremendously also, they are trained in skin conditions and may help a lot. There are a couple of products I would recommend, one is Acnezine and another neat tool that I find helps get rid of nasty flare ups fast, is a little tool called a zit zapper.

Acne or pimples are usually a result of hormonal changes and an irregular and increased production of oil by the sebaceous glands. Check out http://useinfo-acne.blogspot.com/ for more useful info.

Have you considered a natural acne cure approach to your skin problem.

For oily skin with acne try fresh tomato puree - it will remove the excessive oil and soothe the inflammation.Log on to http://tipsfromruby-acne.blogspot.com/ for a few home made tips to heal acne .

Hey amanda,

I totally feel you. I never had acne in high school but when I turned around 19-20 my acne started coming in bad. I had it bad for like 2 years then I found this blog http://www.AcneCuresForLife.blogspot.com haha( I bookmarked it lol )

Anyway I got the acne free product deal and my acne literally disappeared. It was crazy. The product i bought had a money back guarantee which is kinda cool too.

Anyway, I hope that helps!
