Echinacea Vs Flu medecine?

what do you think guys? are flu medecines designed to drag out the virus so the corporations can make money? should we ditch the sudafed and just take herbal remedies like echinacea and selenium??

ABSOLUTELY. They want your money... However! Echinacea is a preventative, but wont do much good when you are already sick. I actually do not know much about selenium though.

Personally I prefer natural remedies whenever possible. Echinacea is a great immune system booster so can speed up recovery from cold and flu viruses, as well as work as a preventative. A flu virus will have to take its course anyway but giving a helping hand with herbals and nutritional supplements is the best way I think :)

well Anna i think echinacea is the business, it sits up there on my kitchen shelf along with the arnica; at the first sign of any sniffles or sore throat its administered, and always, always nips it in the bud. I also keep modern meds alongside for aches and pains cant beat nurofen.

the thing is with echinacea and all the othe herbal remedies, you have to be taking them long term, every day, to reep the benefits. whereas pills you take when you HAVE a cold/flu, gets rid of it/helps fight it better than the herbal remedies.

whereas, say you take the echinacea tabklets when you GET a cold/flu, it wont too much to get rid of it.

you need to take the herbal pills continuous for them to have any affect to you not getting the cold/flu..

echinacea just bascially helps build your immune system up to ward of cold & flu's before you get them.
so if taking echinacea when you actually have a cold/flu, echinacea in this case is useless....

Echinacea every time. I take it for a few days every 2 or 3 months and havent even had a cold in 7 or 8 years
