Seizures OR Panic Attacks? How Can You Really Tell The Difference?

Before I start, I know some seizures don't always make you fall to the ground and sometimes you might not even realli know its A seizure. So Thats exactly why im asking this question.

Almost once every day, Out of no where I get really nervous and my hands start to tingle (Pins and needles) and my mouth gets very dry. I shake and my hands get ICE cold. When this happens I can't sit still and I keep shaking my hands to try to get that numbness feeling away. Sometimes my heart races and sometimes it dosn't. Now though, I don't think it is anxiety because im calm when it happens and my heart really dont pound as long as I stay calm. I also feel confused and detached when these 'Attacks' happen.

I heard these are some symptoms of A seizure and also A Panic Attack. How do you really know the difference?

Im scared that im going to die from A seizure or something even worse.

I also notice, these attacks happen 10x Worse the day after I drink alcohol. So I dont drink at all anymore

SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME. I FEEL ALONE, SCARED AND STRESSED OUT.

personally i dont think its a seizure but if you supsect oit go to a doctor. You have a lot of the symptoms of panic attack but since its about every day it sounds more like generalized anxiety disorder but could be either

From persoanl expeience, it sounds like an out-and-out panic attack - and yes - you feel like you're going to die. I've had these for years - "free-floating" attacks, I was told. Like you, I'd be basically calm, and then - the shaking, heart-pounding, and yes - very "detached" feeling would/does come over me. Valium has worked well for me over the yrs. for this, but, I don't take that now (the withdrawal from that is one, huge attack...). Now, I just try to "deal" with the attacks, and, no - It's NOT easy. People who have never had such attacks don't know how very fortunate they are (I've always thought).
Check with a doctor if possible.

A seizure is way different from a panic attack, which is what you seem to be having with hyperventilation. A seizure is an electrical misfire of the brain that causes the person to lose contract. Though they might not fall down, they do not know what is happening. They may sense a aura before but nothing during. A seizure can last seconds or longer.

If you were truly have a tonic clonic seizure that could cause death you would never know.

Alcohol is a depressant and not good for people with emotional issues like panic attacks.

You need to see a licensed therapist, counselor, psychologist, etc., who will diagnosis your problems. A seizure disorder can only be diagnosed by a physician through an EEG.

Relax. You think you are dying in a panic attack but once the attack is over, you just need to relax and realize your are under severe stress.

GO see your family doctor immediately

It sounds like panic attacks, I did the same thing! Just tell yourself that you are okay and calm yourself down. That's how I got mine to stop overtime! And breathe slowly and relax, it really does help. Also if you start hyperventilating (how ever you spell it) breathe into a brown paper bag or tuck your head in between your knees this also helps and so does a little fresh air. Nothing is too big to overcome. You should also go to the doc to get an evaluation ASAP, because I am no doctor, but it sounds like panic attacks to me.

Sounds like panic attack to me. I had a very similar thing.

Alcohol used to make me worse and on one occasion I got raced to hospital in an ambulance after drinking when I was stressed.

I managed to overcome my panic attacks. You can read my story below. It will give you hope.

i have just recently experienced a seizure and this is defenalty not a seizure. i had twitching and i stared blankly. then in my boyfriends car had a seizure so i had an eeg done and it was a seizure so you are just having random pain attacks there is no way that this is a seizure.

Its an panic attack....and one of the symptoms of a panic attack is to have anxiety...and when you have random anxiety you need something to focus it on....for example "am I going to die of a seizure?" Now once you realize this isn't a seizure your mind will come up with something else to attribute the anxiety to. Or you could just keep telling yourself what the panic and anxiety really is.....panic and anxiety. Have you tried meds?
