Extra Extra Long Seizures? |
I've been having seizures for over 3 years, they have yet to find anything physically wrong with me. My seizures last about 5-20 minutes. They get very violent and I break out into sweats. I start with the robotic movements of my arms and legs and head and eye movement. Oh yeah... and I shake a lot. Let me add that they only happen when I sleep. Once or twice when I'm awake Seizures don't normally last longer then 2 minutes, and when you are having one, you don't have any idea what you are doing during it, so if you remember, then it's probably not a seizure. I had a seizure like thing that lasted a long time and one of my parents came up with this reading called "Tardive Dyskinesia." Since with me it lasted at least 2-3 hrs. Report It I have a history of epilepsy. During a seizure you stop breathing so you should probably be dead without breathing for 15 -30 minutes. Are you aware it is going on? Do you see an aura before the onset of your "seizures"? Have you had an eeg done to monitor your brainwaves? If it is a seizure disorder you should talk to your dr about taking dilantin or zorantin (not sure on spelling). Hope you figure out what is going on with you. those are grand mals your having. a type of dangerous generalized seizure that can cause "chaining neuron deaths" which could lead to progressive brain damage. next time you have one like this call an ambulance, they will probably run emergency interictal (during seizure) x-rays cat scan and mri along with SPECT scan (shows oxygen flow) they will then find WHERE they origionate from if its your whole brain seizuring then ur screwed, if its one hemisphere they can take it out and hopefully your movement ability that that hemisphere serves will shift to the other, if not... well then u will have hemiplegia. |
