Wellbutrin and seizures - what happens if I take it just once then stop? Can I get a seizure?

My doctor put me on these antidepressants called Wellbutrin, however I have heard that they make it harder to sleep at night. for this reason, I would like to try just one then discontinue them if it turns out that they significantly impair my ability to sleep.

I have been warned that Wellbutrin can cause seizures if the dosages are messed with, is it possible that taking it once then not taking it again could give a seizure?

Please only reply if you have personal knowledge of this and can help. I'm not interested in reading some copy-and-pasted comments about Wellbutrin from somewhere on the internet, I have google and can easily find those myself.

I am looking for some knowledgeable people who can answer my question.

thank you.

I have been on and off Wellbutrin for a couple of years. I have never had the experience that it gives me trouble sleeping. It may give you some energy, so I suggest taking it in the morning.

It's not wise to start and stop any antidepressant regularly, but some women take Wellbutrin for PMS, meaning they only take it for 2 weeks/month and then don't take it for the other 2 weeks of the month and it's perfectly safe to do so.

Give the meds a good month to level out in your system and for your system to adapt. It may take that long to feel "normal" so don't quit too soon.

One bad side effect is anger/short temper. I had to stop taking it twice now because after about 5 months I became so short tempered that I was ready to kill people on the road when I was driving. So watch for that.

That comes from a sudden stoping of ant depressants if they have been in you're system regularly (taking them everyday for awhile). antidepressants usually take awhile to start working though. if you don't like them, your doc will have a safe plan to wean you off.

I have been taking them for approximately 3 weeks now.
I get up in the morning and take 1 Welbutrin, 2 asprin and 2 Nifedipine. (I have a circulatory problem as well) I heard they're really helpful in quitting smoking. It never makes it hard to sleep at night, in fact, it seems to do just the opposite.

Mixing drugs is never a good thing. The same with smoking and drinking alcohol, which can affect the other drugs, or have a volatile mixture.

Really, it all depends on the person taking the drug. Some people have allergic reactions, some don't. Some people are addicted to alcohol, some aren't. If you have a family history of seizures or other such illnesses, then you might want to be extra careful.

Just one isn't going to cause a seizure. But, you will need to take it at least 2 weeks to see if it will help you. For the first 2 weeks, you might have some side effects like a little dizziness, nausea or insomnia. Nothing is going to be that serious. You will be able to work, go to school or whatever you do when you first start it. Most people take it without any problems.

If you are unsure about taking wellbutren then don't chance it talk to your doc and tell them you don't want to take that brand and why? They will give you something else to try their are thousands out there..
I took it once and it made my depression worse. I became very violent and suicidal. I attempted suicide and if my husband hadn't shown up i probably would have succeeded.. Same with my brother in law. He Knocked out my 12 year old niece..
If you have concerns tell your doc you have a right not to take it..
It is not good to start and stop medications like that...
