Seizures what makes you have them?

i had one seizures and i like to know why i had one thats all

tom,

A good general picture of a seizure is that it's an electrical storm in the brain.

There are many different kinds of seizures that happen in different parts of the brain and to different extents--some make the person fall down, some simply make him stop and stare for a moment.

What happens in all of them, however, is that some cluster of cells in the brain fire their electrical signals at the wrong time and too much.

There are several reasons seizures can start:

An illness, especially with a fever above 104 degrees F, a brain injury, an imbalance in some neurotransmitters, or a genetic cause that creates "wiring" in the brain that leads to seizures.

Why you had one we cannot at this distance say with certainty. Your doctor can, and perhaps with research you could, too.

But if it was a real seizure, and not, say, a "hypoglycemic event" (low blood sugar which can make a person pass out and even twitch so that at first glance it looks like a seizure), then you would want to have treatment for it, and you'd want to start it as soon as you can. Medications can control many forms of seizure, and the sooner you begin the better it will be for you.

Good luck.

seizures can be caused by:
high fever
tumor
brain deformity
brain injury
reaction to a medication
unknown reason

there may be more but thos are reasons I know of.
