Can you still have seizures if your on medication for it?

If you have seizures and your on medication for seizures can you still have one?? Or does the medication control the seizures ....

AND....

Could you die from having a seizure???

yes to all three questions
Yes medication for seizures is supposed to help control seizures, yes, you can still have seizures if your medication needs to be adjusted...after each seizure you need to see a dr. and have your blood levels tested.

I have known 2 people who have died (indirectly) from having a seizure...
the first was a young korean man (when I lived in S. Korea) who went into Status Epilepticus (repeating seizures) and because of the society that values family would not touch this person who was not related to the people around him...he ended up having a heart attack, going into a coma and dying...all because some people wouldn't press 3 numbers (911 or the equivelant).

The second person to die (indirectly) because of a seizure was sleeping on a couch home alone (her kids were taken away from her because she was having 10-15 seizures a day..due to a severe allergy to asperin ...a main component of most seizure medication apparently). She went into a seizure fell on the floor on her face and sufficated. Her ex-husband found her dead the next morning.

The answer is yes and yes you can die from a seizure.
