Secondhand smoke in condo?

i live in a second floor condo and the guy below us on the first floor smokes it comes through our bathrooms... we should not have to breathe this what can we do? besides confronting him..

I think the 1st answer said it all.........

Something is definitely wrong if everything the guy below you uses or does (cooking liver & onions for instance) or even something like using a spray (or any) air freshener that you don't like the smell of seeps into your living quarters.....
It sounds like each place should have it's own seperate ventilation system...........

You have several options:

-complain to superintendent or landlord

-Start being a bad neighbour in hopes that he moves out

-buy a couple of air purifiers and place them near the bathrooms

-buy a lot of air freshener and Febreeze

-try to block the vents or wherever the smoke is comming through

-find a new place to live

Good luck!

It's hard to advise you how to go about stopping the secondhand smoke, but you need to because it's dangerous.

Secondhand smoke is now a confirmed cause of cancer, and can cause or aggravate other medical conditions like respiratory infections, bronchitis, emphysema, coronary disease, vascular disease and also a connection between diabetes and second hand smoke. In the United States alone approximately 3400 deaths from lung cancer and 46000 from heart disease are attributed to involuntary intake of secondhand smoke. It even has a clinical name these days "Environmental Tobacco Smoke" (ETS).

The statistics for children's health is particularly worrying, US figures are showing up to 300,000 infants under 18 months of age are suffering respiratory tract infections, many resulting in hospitalization.
