Could someone get addicted to nicotine by secondhand smoke? |
I just wanted know if that could happen you liberal do gooders get a life. secondhand smoke won,t get you addicted to nicotine no more than someone beside you eating a hershey bar will get you addicted to chocolate. i,m a respiratory therapist with one lung and i,m tired of this anti smoking campaign. all adults know the affects of smoking but in a free society that is your choice. the liberals worry more about smoking than drinking. lets compare the two. drinking you can get drunk and get hurt yes. smoking-no. drinking you can drive erratically and kill yourself or someone else -yes, smoking-no. can drinking destroy families and relationships-yes can smoking -no. can a drunk beat his wife and kids-yes. a smoker-no. does smoking, copd, emphysema and cancer cost the taxpayers-yes. does alcoholics cause cirroshis of the liver, alcohol poisoning, alcohol rehab, divorce, poverty and cost taxpayers-yes. No. No. No, being exposed to secondhand smoke won't get you addicted to nicotine because when you take in secondhand smoke, you're only being exposed to the smell. Nicotine itself is in the actual cigarette and you would have to smoke one to get addicted. You can however develop lung diseaase from secondhand smoke. I used to be a heavy smoker. I quit and after that I got in the habit of hanging out in a bar where the smoke was so thick you could cut it with a knife. I smelled like smoke, sure enough, but I didn't get addicted. I've never heard of anybody getting addicted that way, but there must be people out there who will contradict me. Don't think so. There is very negligible amounts of nicotine being exhaled if there is any. You'll die first the carcinogens from the exhaled smoke that you're now inhaling or suffer emphysema whichever comes first. That would be dependent on the length of exposure and the smoke density. But there is no doubt that the harmful effects from secondhand smoke are just as bad as if you smoked yourself. That's quite an interesting question because I have been addicted to so many different things ( including nicotine ) . On one hand , I doubt you could become addicted through second hand smoke , you may end up liking it enough as to cause yourself to start smoking just becuase you liked the smell so much . If you have an addictive type of mind and body, you will be prone to anything you like alot and will eventually meet recovery . |
