Passive smoking is as dangerous as smoking, and the smoke being inhaled is not filtered.

second hand smoke is more lethal then smoking an actual cigarette, a smoker takes in the nicotine and other poisons through a filter, the smoke billowing out from the cigarette is unfiltered, and more concentrated.
Breathing in more concentrated smoke in this way over a long period of time has a good chance of causing cancer, many many children of smokers experience this on a daily basis, they are much more likely to suffer cancer then a child in a smoke free home.

Edit: Whilst I am sure the person a couple of posts below me is quite a lovely person, he/she is sorely mistaken that I haven't got my facts straight, I gathered this information from my doctors smoking cessation group, where I took my grandmother last week who is now suffering severe asthma due to smoking and who lost her husband 8 years ago due to lung cancer through smoking.

I agree with Spot. I could put 100 smokers in my garage with my car and give em each a pack of cigs to smoke and my car would NOT have the kind of black sh*t that I wipe off it daily just driving on the freeway 15 miles one way, 15 miles back! I won't smoke witrhin 15 feet of you if you drive your SUV at least 15 feet of me. Deal?
