Smoke Help!!!!?

I really need some help here. I am 14 and my parents smoke. They have ever since I was born (I believe). Anyways... I'm sick and tired of them smoking and and the smoke itself. I have made it perfectly clear to them that I hate it by blowing it out of my face everytime it comes near me, always spraying air freshner, and telling them I hate it. And all they plan to do is buy an air purifier. ha! as if that's going to work any. yes... I know it's hard to quit, but they aren't even making an effort to do it. I'm sick of the girl who always goes to school smelling like smoke because my parents don't care what it does to me. In p.e., we are doing health, and that past few times, we've read about smoking and secondhand smoke and I can barely read it without crying. It's ruining my life and my parents do even realize it. Or maybe they do but they just don't care. Again, I know it's really hard to quit, but I feel like they even doing anything to stop it. And I'm sick of it. what should I do?

also, my room is upstairs. My parents never smoke in mine or my brothers room. Which is a good thing. But because my room is upstairs, the smoke rises upstairs and gets into my room. During the winter, in the evenings, I keep the door open only because it gets REALLY cold up there. and I have nothing in my room to heat it up. So that let's the smoke rise up there. And air freshner works but then after a while it slowly fades away. anyways...I'm just so sick and tired of it. everytime my parents stuff a cigarette in their mouth, I show some kind of sign that I hate it and then my parents are just like "oh, stop it". And if I say " well, I'm sick of the smoke", then they say " well I don't care what you want" honestly. That always happens. I am already depressed enough with not being able to lose weight, having people get mad and be jealous at me. I don't need to wake up everyday knowing that I'm slowly dieing of lung cancer.(not that I am. but I could be. ya never know) I just need help

Sounds like they are not interested in quitting so there is not much you can do except to move out when you are a bit older and can afford to do so. Unfortunately you will have to put up with your parents for a while yet as you are too young to be moving out.

Perhaps you could move in with a relative such as an aunt or an uncle or perhaps your grandparents. Grandparents are often very understanding people and perhaps they may be willing to help you.

If you are willing to help your grandparents in their home they might perhaps be quite happy to have you.

that really sucks that your parents don't care, but i would just try asking them nicely and maybe show them the risks and how it harms them and how it harms you. once they understand this, i am sure they will be more motivated to quit, especially for their kids... smoking really is a horrible thing.

Eww what you can do is write a little story about what smoking does to you. I wrote a contract to my dad when i was 10 saying quit smoking by the end of the month or ill tie you to a pole and kick you in the balls unill you promice never to smoke again ! (i was mean)

Nicotene is horribly addictive. But your parents should try, if not for their sakes, for yours. Second hand smoke kills people. Put air purifiers in your room, so at least you'll have clean air while you sleep. Open windows and doors whenever possible. I personally think it is a form of child abuse.

I smoke as well so I know it truly is hard to quit... Do your parents smoke in the house? Maybe tackle one problem at a time. Ask them if they will smoke outside and try to cut back at least. I can't stand to have my house smelling like smoke so I NEVER smoke inside. Do I need to quit... of course! But i'm taking it one step at a time. Have patience with them but also let them know that you are not comfortable with them smoking inside. This way you're taking a more mature and understanding approach and I would hope that they would honor your requests. I wish you the best of luck.

wow im sorry to hear that! im 14 and i smoke! it is extremely hard to quit! i mean i got hooked and i regret every drag i take! but im sure your parents care, and hear what your saying! but if they have been smoking for 14 years, it is extremely hard to quit, i have been smoking for 1 year and i have already tried various times to quit! if worst comes to worst, just sit your parents down and have a long heart-to-heart! tell them exactly how you feel, and maybe they will understand, dont get upset with them though, if they dont quit tomorrow, give them time!

1st of all tell them how you feel.. if your parents are like mine, then try the second advice
2nd, tell them you need 2 talk about this,
Smoking only helps depression get bigger and that they're better off without it.
By smoking, they can get heart canser, bvad breath, yellow teeth, lung cancer, loss of $$$$$$$$$$$$ and much more things. and add more stuff that you know might amke them feel guilty :)

Ask them to only smoke in their bedroom. This way the smoke won't rise into your room.
