How long does tobacco smoke take to clear out of the house.?

Ok, does anyone know how long the dangers of tobacco smoke stay in a home? I found several sites saying that the tobacco smoke odor is not damaging. But lets say someone regularly smokes inside their home, are the levels of secondhand smoke still present after 1 day without smoking?
Thanks for any info.

no my brother does it all the time and thinks nobody knows the only way know is from seeing the weed not smelling it, it clears out preety fast so you wont get caught LOL

no,it gets absorbed into the walls furniture etc.the smell remains but it is no more harmful than smelling your bathroom after your dad takes a crap...good luck

Once the smoke is gone the danger is gone, you can still smell tobacco for days or even years depending on how long smokers have smoked in the house the only way to totally get the smell out is clean the walls and curtains, carpets and the furniture.

If you move into a house that was previously owned by a smoker, you might be able to smell it, but it won't have a detrimental effect on your health.

Anyway, getting your carpets and curtains cleaned along with a fresh coat a paint will clear the smell up.
