Genius way to make people quit smoking? or not? |
Every time I walk pass a smoker and inhale secondhand smoke, I purposely cover my mouth and make huge coughing noises. Then, I say really loudly, "oh jeez where is that toxic smell coming from I think I'm gonna die". Finally, if my kid is next to me, I also tell him to do the same and teach him loudly that the cigarette will kill the person breathing it and he has no life because he smokes nasty stuff to get his breath bad, and his wallet empty. To finish it off, I say "by the looks of it, he's only got four years left." Is this a good way to make someone quit smoking? Nobody is going to quit smoking because of that. Trust me. Smokers know it is bad for them. They are addicted. It's a very difficult addiction that I struggle with myself. One more person telling me how bad it is for me is not going to make me quit... though I am working on it! Yikes. That's a bit harsh. I'm not a big fan of smoking either, but I think you're going a bit too far here. If he's smoking outside, which is legal, he has a right to be left alone. However, if he's smoking in an unauthorized location, you should simply ask him politely to quit smoking. Smoking is definitely a gross habit, but he/she is still a person with feelings! no... but it is a good way to get you're *** kicked. Wow, I think you have something here...you ought to document what happens, you know, an informal study. because smoking is an addiction, I believe the smoker will go underground, more so than they already are. If cancer, heart attack and stroke and emphysema as well as a huge list of other ailments are not a deterrent, what in the Universe is? What are you teaching your kid? I think it teaches sarcasm and how to devalue people based on their legal choice to smoke. You are wasting your time. Nicotine is a highly addictive drug and all your ranting and raving is going to help anyone quit smoking. I would say...No! There is nothing genius about that, it makes you seem quite strange and personally I would be careful as to whom I say something like that to. You may endager you child more when you anger some random person and they attack you. I am not a smoker, I do not condone smoking, but the fact remains...how would you like it if someone walked up to you while you were eating and said, "Wow look at that guy, he's eating a cheeseburger, looks like he's only got a few years to go until bypass surgery. Its not an effective way to stop people from doing these particular behaviors. Nice try, but keep your thoughts to yourself...for you own safety Only if Youre looking for TROUBLE. No one's going to quit over that, they'll just think you are awful and not listen to a word you say. If you're unlucky, you'll get punched in the face. Here's a little fun fact for you non-smokers out there... You are a nasty little jack ***, aren't you!!! |
