My mom offered to watch our infant, but she is a smoker. She only smokes in one room in the house and has an air filter in that room. However, since she has been smoking for years, (my brother and I actually grew up in the home with both my parents smoking at the time) you leave with an odor on our clothes. I do not feel that we are exposed to secondhand smoke, but what about the odor? Does that have an effect on us, and more importantly will it have an effect on our infant? Your infant will be fine. Relax. That cigarette odor could effect infants and there is still gasses in that house passed from your mom's smoking. at the end of they day you have been though it your self and your not effected so should be no harm at all unless smoking is around infants in same room making them breath it in, yes i am a smoker i don't smoke around kids or anyone who doesn't smoke its just my way of respect i suppose,. but i personally don't and would not hold a baby of under 1 month after i had just had a cig, i would how ever wash my hands and remove my coat before doing so and if that smoke don't kill us something else will its just one of those things people don't know about and get on the defence about it if your happy with a smoker taking care of your child then don't worry if so if you asked the person in question to please reframe from smoking just while they were around the child i am sure they would respect your wishes. hope that helped good luck x |
