Should he get a second opinion? |
My boyfriend who is in his early 30s has a hernia protruding in his belly button. The doc said as long as it doesn't grow or cause him any pain not to worry about it, but he's been having alot of stomach trouble the last week or so. Should he get a second opinion? YES, get a second opinion!!! It's unusual for an adult to have an umbilical hernia. A hernia is a tear in the muscle and the protrusion is his intestine coming through the tear. In children, this will naturally heal as they grow (most of the time). In adults, it will probably need a repair which is no big deal. However, it can get larger and that intestine can become "strangled" and lose circulation. Then you have severe problems. See a surgeon. God Bless. no, thats usually what happens during a hernia. Yes; It can be very painful Well it wouldn't hurt. He should talk to his medical ins carrier first to get authorization. he should see a doctor about the stomache issues, the hernia in his belly button will resolve itself once the stomache issue is taken care of. its the stomache(ie straining for bowel movements)that causes the hernia not the hernia causing the stomache pains. hew should go to the doc |
