Should I get a second opinion over rash? |
Yesterday I found a rash of about 5 small red/purple spots on my thigh. I tried the glass test on them and they didn't blanch. I wasn't feeling very well but I'd been out drinking the night before so I assumed it was a hangover! Phoned NHS direct & they said I should see my GP. I went this morning, he (a locum)looked at the rash (there are now about 8 bruise-like spots) and took my temperature, which he said was quite high. I told him I had a sore throat, but he didn't look at it, or ask me any other questions about my health. He also didn't do any kind of 'glass-test' for himself. He said the spots would probably go away on their own and to go back in 2 weeks if they hadn't. I now have a headache as well as everything else and feel generally a bit unwell and tired. Well you are definitely not happy about it so yes i would say get a second opinion. Try and relax and have warm baths and try and look after yourself in between and try not to worry too much, it doesn't help symptoms if you are stressed. Maybe just maybe you had something to eat that didn't quite agree with you and has caused a body reaction. There are some flu like symtoms going around, which would account for your higher temperature, but i would give it a day or to and if the rashes are still the same, get a 2nd opinion. If you had loads to drink it might have caused a reaction. Its also been really warm recently and many people have been getting rashes. Hope that helps and i hope you feel better soon. Doctors seem to have a real reluctance to examine people nowadays - you used to go along to the doc and he would ask you to stick your tongue out and say ahhhhh so he could see your throat and, check if your glands were up. If you are really worried, go back to the Doctor again. I am sure that you are just a bit rundown - are you sure it's not just heat rash because of the hot weather? |
