Exactly when would you consider a second opinion?

I have been bleeding now for months. My doctor put me on orthotrycycline. One month has passed already. I am still bleeding. My doctor says it may take a couple of "cycles" until it stops. Is this normal or should I get a second opinion?

There's a highly effective birth control pill that can actually help clear up your skin too, ORTHO TRI-CYCLEN. It provides you with a low daily dose of hormones that prevent pregnancy,

is this the same drug that you are talking about?

if you don't feel comfortable of waiting another few months, you can always see another doctor

this is a hormone drug, so it does take time for your brain to get adjusted.

a second opinion is when you get another answer and compare them,so you can decide which one to go with

is your doctor a gyn? if not, go see one. a 2nd opinion is always a wise choice.

I would get a second opinion. It isn't normal for anyone to bleed for months, and something that is going to take a couple more months to stop it isn't a very effective treatment.

If you are unhappy with the doctors explanation or how he/she is dealing with your case then I would talk to another doctor and ask them their experience with the drug you are using and your condition.

you should always get a second opinion the moment you question your original doctor

Anytime you think you may need a second opinion, you should follow that instinct and get one. You may get told the same thing by another doctor, but at least you will have piece of mind. Also you may get a different diagnosis and be glad you tried someone else.
