Bronchitis or pneumonia - should i see a private doctor for a second opinion instead of NHS doc? |
Hi, I've had bronchitis for i about 2 months now. just as i was getting better i thought it would be okay to do some exercise - think i overdid it and now im sick again. For the past week Im coughing up green stuff, my left ear is blocked and my glands on the left side of my neck are swollen. I'm also really tired. I am starting to get my appetite back though. Feeling guilty because i've missed 4 days work already. Should i see a private doctor for a second opinion or just let it get better over time by resting although i have been ill for so long? Go to see your doc. This is serious when it lasts this long. It sounds as if you need antibiotics. Why? Just go back to your normal surgery. You can always see a different GP there. Proboble virus, give it more time. Let your body heal. even if u did go private, the chances are you will see a nhs doctor....i would go back 2 your gp and tell him your concerns and that you would like 2 be investigated further.........stand firm Dont work out till your sure you better. this girl i knew in high school thought she had bronchitis but had mono. She worked out and died later that day from a rupured speen. Go to the doc again. They can do an x-ray to see if it's pneumonia. i had the same, still got the cough, doc said in was a virus so nothing they can give for it, if u are that worried go back to your doc, you can always go to a different one. Why feel guilty, if your ill your ill, you need time to recover properly my child had pneumonia but twice GP sent me home telling "all kids get sniffles"...I went to the hospital and he was taken in straight away, I cant trust GP's advice now...always go for a second opinion I would just go back to your doctor, As a doctor who did a good portion of my medical training in NHS hospitals (Norwich and Canterbury), I would say that, given a choice, you should ALWAYS see a private doctor over the NHS doc. You need to go back to a Dr. and quick, you have a very serious infection going on. It sounds like you have more than bronchitis, although it probably isn't pneumonia, if you had that, you would have problems breathing. It sounds like your bronchial tubes infected or your sinus' are. Anytime your phlegm is green it is bad. Remember this, clear is ok, yellow is infection, and green is much worse infection. See a doctor before it gets worse. that sounds like you developed a sinus infection...sinus infection symptoms swollen neck glands, facial pain, eye pain, cough ( usually colored mucus )headaches..tired, irritable... |
