Is it only fair for me to seek a second opinion even though I don't have health insurance? |
My cardiologist is completly full of it, he is always in a hurry and never has time to anwser my questions. I keep passing out and my legs keep falling out from underneath me, I think something is realy wrong and my cardiologist says that it's nothing to worry about. Should I seek a second opinion?, I'm 19 years old. yeah if you dont ur ripping ur self off absolutely!! Damn right you should seek a second opinion! I would certainly seek a second opinion. A Dr needs to be able to listen to patient concerns and questions, however busy. As for your health insurance, I don't know where you are from, but here in NY that would be a self pay, and most practices these days will negotiate Medicare rates, which are considerably lower than the costs billed to private health insurance companies. Try to see a Dr with a wider knowledge, your symptoms may not be cardiac related at all. Your description could fit several other criteria. You should ALWAYS get a second opinion! ALWAYS!!!!!!!!!!! Regardless if everything is okay with your heart something is not right some where if all that is going on. Even if you have a great doctor you should still get a second opinion. Good luck! Yeah a second opinion would be good. I would never take what a dr. says to heart. If you know something is wrong then seek out more help by other dr. til you find out what is going on. You are young and should not be having issues like that. Definitely get a second opinion and keep going to dr. after dr. if you have to, find out what is wrong. I would switch to a different cardiologist. Just because you are very young doesn't mean there can't be something wrong with you. Obviously there is because you are concerned. Find another and have them do tests. If you get worse go to the emergency room. Forget about the cost, there is not price on you living. You are worth too much. Yes you should definitely go for a second opinion if you are not satisfied with your current Cardiologist, go to a county clinic, they have to take you even if you don't have insurance. Talk to the MD who referred you to the Cardiologist. At 19 or any age these are signs and symptoms indicative of something abnormal going on and questions need to be answered! Good Luck! |
