How long should I wait to get a second opinion? |
I have a horrible toothache and my face is swollen on one side like crazy! It feels like the same tooth I had a root canal on three years ago. I went to the dentist yesterday and he told me I had an infected tooth. Should I be feeling pain in this tooth since it had a root canal? Furthermore, the swelling has gotten worse. It's spread to underneath my eye. I started the antibiotics yesterday. But since it seems to have gotten worse this morning, should I go now for a second opinion or wait to let the medicine start working? Give the antibiotic a chance to work but not too long. Put some ice on the swelling and call your dentist back and tell him the swelling has gotten worse. He should tell you to come back in. You certainly can feel pain if there is an infection. A root canal removes the nerves/tissuse IN the tooth, not around. If there is an infection, the other nerves will definately pick up on that! |
