Should I get a second opinion about the lump the gyno just found in my breast? |
The gyno wants to see me back in 3 months to check it out. Isn't that to long to wait? Shouldn't I've been sent for a mammorgram right away? I'm 33 and my mother's mother had breast cancer. For peace of mind, get a second opinion. I found a lump 2 years ago (I was 26 at the time) and I was so nervous that I went straight to the Dr. I had a mammogram & US done and it turned out to be a fibroid tumor and I chose the option to have it surgically removed even though it wasn't dangerous (except it hurt). So for my peace of mind, I went through the process as quickly as possible and looking back, I'm glad I did because I didn't have to waste too much time stressing about it. If you are worried about it, then Yes, I'd say, get a second opinion. That is always your right. You have a legitimate concern, and you should be able to find out what the lump is as soon as possible, instead of waiting 3 months. Yes get a second opinion and even a third. Until they do a needle biopsy or a mammogram, I'd keep going to different doctors until they do something. |
