Light Boxes for Seasonal Affective Disorder? |
I can recall a light box product (as well as some natural light light bulbs) for sale and used in the treatment of Seasonal Affective Disorder. My question is will either of those work the same way sunshine or a tanning bed does (not to tan) and activate vitamin D in the body. I know a number of people with a malabsorbtion issue and they use tanning beds to activate the vitamin D in the winter... It would be super if these light boxes worked that same way. Does anyone know? How about any brand names? they work well. I live in PA, and there is not much sunlight for most of the winter. Wegmans, and most health food stores carry the light bulbs. They are generally billed a "full-spectrum light bulbs." I have heard of this unusual phenomenom. It seems to occur to those generally who experience bleak winters with little sunshine. |
