Is there a home remedy available for seasonal affective disorder? |
I think I might be currently suffering from seasonal affective disorder (S.A.D.) that effect millions of people every year in the winter from the lack of sunlight. Moving south to the equator where its warm year round simply isn't an option for me I'd really like to but haven't any money so I have to endure depression and lack of concentration in the horrible sub-zero Canadian winter which last most of the year in this crappy climate. Yes, a light box available at www.sunbox.com. I got the Travel Jr. for about $200. Absolutely works. Also, fish oil and Vit D. I had this soooo bad when I lived in Minnesota. I even tried sun tan booths. they helped somewhat. Anna P is right on. Also...join a health club. Vigorous exercise will help depression. Try vitamin D supplements, UV lights (check out www.northernlighttechnologies.com), tanning sessions (they are cheaper than buying a light), and exercise. Good luck! Yes you need to invest in some natural light bulbs. They mimic natural light. Also I would recommend taking vitamin D and a strong B Complex. Fish gives your brain tyrosine which helps as does exercise everyday. Exercise releases endorphins which are feel good hormones. If none of this helps try the medicine route. |
