How many people are aware of SUMMER Seasonal Affective Disorder? |
I think most people are aware of WINTER Seasonal Affective Disorder which causes depression during the winter months when the skies are grey much of the time, but how many are aware some people get severely depressed during hot, summer weather, the kind of weather that MOST people call "beautiful"? Yes. It's much less common than the winter SAD and the symptoms are usually the opposite. Winter depressions usually involve increased appetite, weight gain, lethargy, excessive fatigue and sleeping much more than usual. Insomnia, decreased appetite, weight loss, agitation and anxiety are usually seen in recurrent summer depressions. The causes of summer depressions are more obscure than that of winter ones. Some researchers believe that some people's brains are particularly sensitive to the increased heat and sunlight during the summer. winter is very visually depressing. no color,no planta. its like a lifeless mars planet Report It me me me iam I've known people who prefer gray rainy days so I guess you can prefer gray short days of winter. Try spending your days indoors and more of your summer nights outdoors. First time for anything I guess, never heard that before how sad !!Second best season of the year !! Well, I do get depressed any time of the year, but when it's the summer it's a different kind of depression. It's this anxious uncomfortable can't sit still depression. In the winter depression almost feels good like it's peaceful compared to what happens in the summer and oh don't even talk about the fall! I am not aware of it but I am making a self diagnosis. I hate the hot weather, unless I am in the pool. Sweaty make-up smeared face and funky armpits are not my cup of tea. I live in South GA too. It is so HOTTT! most people get S.A.D. during summer and spring. |
