I have Seasonal Affective Disorder, is that the reason why also at nightime I feel down/hopeless/depressed? |
but early during the daylight hours I am really normal, happy, hopeful, goal oriented and just okay .... I am wondering if it maybe some type of extreme light sensitivity. I am asking this because I am using my light therapy box and I feel better than previous years. But at the evening hours i can't help to still feel awfully uncomfortable It could be. I use the light box too. Make sure you do the light in the evening too. Just make sure it isnt 2 hours before you go to bed. It is the reason...can you not use your light box in the evening too? yes. i have that same problem. it is the same sort of thing only short term with day and night. it is not fun. Its all in your head---stop making up disorders!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! it could be possible. sometimes maybe night time could be depressing because its darker and quiet, i too feel like that sometimes i actually think its normal, daylight im happy, but when it gets to night im really gloomy... winter=sad summer= happy idk i would still ask though/?? sorry i couldnt help, Add in some exercise in the fresh air, that should help also, and maybe buy a nice bouquet of flowers to smell. It will remind you of summer. I think you are just an early morning person and not a night person. there is no disorder or drugs or treatment involved. It just means get up early and go to bed early. Your body knows what you need -- why force it to fit some artificial schedule. why dont you make night time something to look foward to? i look at silly comedies, listen to music, chat on the phone, tend to my pets, etc. get the picture? you need to DISTRACT yourself and make it as plesant as possible. i have also made my bedroom really spa like with beautiful bed linnen and a nice wall color. if necessary, give yourself extra daylight hours with full spectrum lighting in the evenings it could be sundown syndrome when sun goes down you feel depressed. try a sun lamp get at walmart or local store for around $60 it's like a lamp with sun rays. it works i got 3 of them. Sometimes we have more than one thing going on. Your SAD will respond to the light, but night is a bad time for all depression. You should try to read something light and silly before bedtime - light fiction, even young-adult fiction. You can also take one benedryl before bed so your are not lying awake to see the dark and think dark thoughts. You could also just be lonely, so join some groups, pick up a new hobby or just try one on. We tend to "cocoon" alone in our homes a night these days, but we do better with friends or family or spouses around. Get out and be with people - not in bars or junk like that, but doing things - take a dance class at night or learn to knit or play cards. Take a night class or two at the local community college - those can be a lot of fun! Learn to weave a basket or make pottery. Both the other people in the class and the activity itself will cheer you up. Is this when you are alone, or also with others at night? If only when alone, keep occupied; consider volunteering, from home, as shown in pages 47, and 38, at ezy-build, below. Use the full spectrum "daylight" fluorescents, through www.mercola.com TASKBAR: "fluorescent lighting", or "SAD", and see S.A.D., at http://www.ezy-build.net.nz/~shaneris in section 2, and take 2 cod liver oil supplements, daily, in winter months, only. Read the whole section. |
