Weird form of Seasonal Affective Disorder?

This is a strange question... but I'm wondering if other people actually experience this or I'm just bizarre.

I grew up in the North, in an area where winter temperatures average around 17 degrees and there is a constant blanket of snow and/or ice from mid- to late December through late March, early April.

I currently attend school in the South... we had about 2 weeks of 40 degree days, it snowed once, and has been in the 60s and 70s since. I realize there are a great many people who would LIKE this kind of weather this time of year, and are tired of the cold and the snow/slush... but I HATE it. It's making me so cranky and miserable. I don't want the sun to be shining all the time or to be able to go outside in a t-shirt.

Other people have noticed the resulting change in my behavior/demeanor.

Is this just me being subconsciously homesick (or something like that), or is this actually something that happens to other people? Because it's awful...

You are missing the season changes. You aren't use to not having them. It could be throwing your biological (seasonal) clock off. You most likely are homesick to some degree.

Seasonal Affective Disorder is from lack of sun so I would think you have reverse SAD

Seasonal affective disorder (SAD), also known as winter depression, is an affective, or mood, disorder. Most SAD sufferers experience normal mental health throughout most of the year, but experience depressive symptoms in the winter or summer. The condition in the summer is often referred to as Reverse Seasonal Affective Disorder, and can also include heightened anxiety.

You can research SAD on google for more information.

i'm the exact same way. i hate the summer. it depresses me almost. i've always been a cold weather person. and when the sun is out and so strong and its sunny all day it just depresses me. most people that makes them happy but for me it doesn't. i think its partly just based on our moods. i guess we're more low key, quiet people in a way and i think those people like the darkness and the cold. you also could be a little homesick. but i'm at home now and i'm happy now but once we get to like may till august are my least favorite months. just reading that first person i may have the reverse seasonal disorder. i never even knew it existed. it makes more sense to have it during the winter u would think bc then its dark and cold but thats when i'm the happiest too. if you want to talk online on aim my screename is TheBTPYoda.
