Scoliosis?? |
I'm not sure I spelled it right, but I have it and the doctor said it wasn't bad enough to have to wear a backbrace. But I want to fix it still!! I know sitting up straight is obviously good to do but are there and other things to do as well, like exercises or anything?? Thanks sooo much! Scoliosis is curvature of the spine. My sister had this when we were little, but it was because we both have neurofibromotosis. Her's was so severe, she had to wear a back brace for many years, after serveral operations. In less severe cases, the Dr says nothing can be done for it, it can only be healed by surgery or a brace or both, because he said I had a slight case of it when I broke my back which doesn't mean u will brake yours........he doesn't know how I broke it except for the fact that I fell a year ago at Home Depot, and he says according to the MRI, it happened around the same time. Mild cases are usually easier to put up with with good posture, but no diet in the world or any medicine will cure it, just eat the right foods to improve your bones so you won't get osteoporosis. Also, even though Chirpractors claim they can adjust it in time, you will be wasting your money because there is no cure for it. I am really sorry to have to tell u this, but there is no cure for it without surgery and u don't have it bad enuf to have surgery or wear a brace, however, I would get a second opinion on wearing a brace for it. it gets worse as you get older so make sure you are taking proper amounts of vitamins and minerals and have a good intake of calcium... sit up strait maybe go see a chiropractor and tell them you have it and maybe they can work with you every few weeks making sure you are in allignment. Also go to a healthfood store and ask what natural remedies there may be to help bone health If I were you I would google scoliosis; read the entries at medline, mayo clinic or other reputable website. Doc said it isn't serious: I am amazed that doc didn't hand you a fistful of pamphlets on do-it-yourself exercise program, etc. Since doc didn't do that, it's up to you to take the next steps. And what is causing this scoliosis? Can you improve your diet, lifestyle, work habits, etc. to remediate the situation? Please take much care of it because it's the start of later in life back bone hernias. You can't really fix scoliosis with exercise or stretching, but you can definitely keep scoliosis from becoming a bigger problem by paying attention to your posture and keeping physically fit. The most important thing to do up through the teens is to monitor the curve closely to prevent it from getting too far along. Please read this all the way through! Only device or treatment known to do any stable correction proven by studies is Spinecor. |
