Scoliosis , how do i know i have it? |
back in middle school circa 6th-7th grade, we had a scoliosis check up by some gym teacher.. The easiest way to tell if you have scoliosis is to have an x-ray. Many people have scoliosis, it's acctually quite common. Only the very severe curvature need corrective braces or in worse cases scenerios, surgery. I myself have it, and don't need either. It's nothing to worry about, but it concernes you, have your doctor order some spine x-rays. You'd have to get looked at again. I have it, and it's not so bad, but I have only a slight curve. Mine wasn't discovered until I had an MRI, though. However, my physical therapist spotted it right away. Ask your doctor. Well if you aren't having any problems with your back I doubt you have scoliosis or at least not to a degree that is damaging. However, everytime you have a physical for school, which I believe you are supposed to have one before you go to high school and every year after that if you are in sports, your doctor should have checked it out each time you saw him. If you are worried about it go to the doctor and tell them you just want to have your back checked out for scoliosis due to a note you received from your gym teacher, you don't even have to say it was a note from years ago. However, since you aren't having any problems now and your doctor has never said anything (assuming you have gone) I really wouldn't worry about it. you would know if you had it your back or spine would be all deformed,if you do have it you should stand up straight and excercise, that's what the teacher told the class.eat vegetables. well i have scoliosis and i am going to be having surgery in a few months :( the way i found out was by having an x-ray done which is what i recommend you do. i'm also guessing that your a guy and severe scoliosis is very rare in guys. but considering your shoulders are level and everything you probably dont have it. if your worried about it then the only thing you can do to be certain you have it is to go get an x-ray. good luck. |
