Does Scoliosis ever cause you discomfort? |
I have scoliosis, and sometimes I get random pains out of nowhere. I don't think it is because of the scoliosis, but I was just wondering if you have ever felt any discomfort due to scoliosis. Scoliosis is a lateral (sideways) curve of the spine. It is typically found in girls, especially the early teen years. If a curve progresses, it can compromise the lungs, heart and other internal organs. Most curves stop progressing at the end of puberty. "Random" pain is not typically related to a spinal curvature. Pain associated with scoliosis is fairly consistent and dull, achey in character. If you are uncertain, see a doctor of chiropractic Yup, all the time. There are times when I may be just sitting on my bed folding laundry and a pain will come out of nowhere. Yes, I've had scoliosis for 22yrs. I had stopped growing when they caught it so luckily I didn't have to have surgery. I have always lived with back and neck pain--I have a "S" curve starting in my neck and going all the way down. My muscles always feel like each side is fighting against the other--one side pulling one way the other side pulling the other way. Constantly have stiff muscles and occasionally have muscle spasms. Every now and then I can't even move. We have also discovered a herniated disc in my neck and my lower back. Not only do I have the scoliosis but my thoracic spine is starting to twist as well. Don't think I'll get surgery unless I absolutely need it. I've learned to like with the pain, every now and then I'll take pain pills and muscle relaxants to help, Good luck |
