Can scoliosis cause respitory diseases ?

I have mild scoliosis and my chiropractor said that if he were to fix my scoliosis that it would help me breath better. I have asthma, is it possible that the scoliosis is causing this, or will my asthma get better ?

Sever scoliosis can cause breathing problems, due to the lungs not having room to expand properly. But if you have mild, it probably doesn't affect your breathing much. I don't think it would change asthma, but I'm not a doctor. It could be that your asthma has been misdiagnosed, and is actually caused from the scoliosis, but I doubt it.

they are separate conditions

It is possible that the alinement of your spine is causing the rib cage to be in a less desirable position and he may feel that once he has helped put the spine in a better position it may help your other condition. Athsma is a different disease however, it may lessen with this new aliment. I would talk to you doc about it to become better informed.

No, because they are separate diseases. I have scoliosis and a lung disease.
