Scoliosis query? |
Recently I had a scoliosis x-ray which concluded I have a short but marked scoliosis centered around T5. What exactly does this mean? I know what scoliosis is, I just need some help understanding the rest. Your back bone isn't one bone, but a series of bones stacked on top of one another (vertebrae). From top to bottom, it consists of 7 cervical bones, 12 thoracic, and 5 lumbar. Each bone is numbered with a letter and number. The fourth cervical bone is C4, the fifth thoracic is T5. The bend is centred around your 5th thoracic vertebra. You have a short but noticeable bend in your spine centered around your T5 vertebrae. I'm not sure which is T5, but I think near your shoulders. Well it depends how bad it is and if the Orthopaedic specialist thinks it's going to get worse. It just depends on so many things and you haven't really said very much. T5 is one of your thoracic vertebrae - the ones in the middle of your back, above the 5 big lumbar ones at the bottom which connect to your tail bones |
