Scoliosis and trauma....? |
can u stunt ur growth if somebody hits u in the backbone and it causes u a light trauma (very light bruising for example)? Over 80% of all scoliosis is classified as idiopathic scoliosis, meaning there is no known causes, and most of these cases are in otherwise healthy people. And 80% of idiopathic scoliosis cases, is Adolescent Idiopathic Scoliosis (AIS), which develops in young adults around the onset of puberty. Scoliosis affects 2% of women and 0.5% of men in the general population. There are many causes of scoliosis, including congenital spine deformities, genetic conditions, neuromuscular problems and limb length inequality. Other causes for scoliosis include cerebral palsy, spina bifida, muscular dystrophy, spinal muscular atrophy and tumors. People who have a history of scoliosis in their family, have a higher risk of developing the disease. No, scoliosis would not be caused by a 'light' trauma. My hips and shoulders were visibly misaligned. And also, one of my legs was slightly longer than the other. Report It And you could tell I had scoliosis, because I could not stand up straight (my mom always thought I just had poor posture). If you have any other questions, you can e-mail me at IrishRosse1987@yahoo.com. Report It |
