5 degree scoliosis, can it cause lots of back pain?

someone I know has a five degree scoliosis, she always complains about severe back pain. Can a very slight scoliosis like that cause such back pain?
I have scoliosis myself but it's more than 5 so I don'tknow the answer to my question :)

I've have a double curve or an S-shaped curve. I make sure to sit up straight and lie down straight. Not pick up anything heavy or off balance.

I too have scoliosis, managed to live life up until my 30's and then the nagging pain started. Now at 48 I have Disc Bulges and that is PAIN. Yes, we all feel pain differently, so two people might have the exact same degree of scoliosis, but one will be screaming and the other not.

I dont know but this website could help

With any side to side curve of the spine you may experience back pain or tire easily during activities that require excessive trunk (chest and belly) movement. The X-Ray appearance of the spine often resembles an "S" or a "C".
I add a link that discusses this condition

Hope this helps

First, 5 degrees of lateral curvature isn't considered scoliosis. In order for it to be scoliosis, measurement needs to be more than 15 degrees.

Can slight curvature cause pain? It is possible..but it could be that there might be underlying causes like muscle spasm or disc degeneration that may be causing the slight lateral curvature which in turn could be also the source of pain.

With the way that scoliosis is measured, 5 degrees is amazingly small... something that would surprise me, if it got noticed... I have severe congenital scoliosis, with the main curve, over my spinal cord... I've had two surgeries, and nerve damage, and it can get to incredibly severe pain, due to muscles, wrapped around the bars...

as for 5 degrees... I'm not sure... mine was 55 when they found it, but I'd complained for years, before it was discovered... accidentally (docs said I was faking the pain, due to a need for attention... if the doc tells you this, make sure to keep an eye on the back... dont let it get severe...)
