Scoliosis brace?

I have scoliosis and i was wondering about the brace.

but is it comfortable?

Do i need surgery first?

Is it expensive?

scoliosis is giveing me alittle back pain and i dont want it to get worse

There are several types of scoliosis. The most common, a mild curve, doesn't require surgery or a brace, but exercise, massage and manipulative therapy such as chiropractic or osteopathy. There are medical guidelines for how many degrees it has to be to be a true scoliosis but the word gets thrown about pretty loosely.
surgery is only done in extreme cases where organs are being impinged.
Braces are really very seldom used any more since they mostly cause the person to become even stiffer and the muscles even weaker. Best luck.

There's probably a bit of discomfort from the brace, but you will get used to it.

Bracing is done to try to keep the curve from becoming larger. Bracing won't correct the curve for more than the time when you're wearing it. When you take the brace off, after a certain amount of time, the curve will return.

Take this info with a grain of salt, but surgery is recommended if your curve is large (>50 degrees) or if it is rapidly getting larger. Your doctor will probably try bracing first because surgery is a pretty big deal.

My parents took care of my brace and didn't discuss it with me. You can probably call an orthotics shop (your doctor can give you the name and number of who makes braces for their patients) for an approximate price.

Depends on which Brace you are talking about...btw, You are supposed to wear the brace to prevent surgery..not the other way around lol..

Anyway, rigid braces are pretty hard to wear and painful also...but you are lucky...

There's a new soft brace called Spinecor..works great..and very comfortable...
