Scoliosis - Those who are being treated with braces?

Hi there,

I was diagnosed with scoliosis when I was eleven and have now been wearing a brace for 5 years. I'm 17, and have nearly finished my treatment.

I would now like to set up a website dealing with scoliosis in teenage girls, dedicated to those who have to wear braces. I'm thinking of including basic info, forums where girls can chat with other girls going through the same thing, and perhaps a page which lists fashionable clothes that are suitable for brace-wearers (I know how hard it was to find clothes to cover mine).

What do you think of this idea, and do you have any suggestions.

Thanks :)

Thanks, Lou, check the email I sent you.

Thats an awesome idea! Im 19 and have only just been diagnosed so wont be getting a brace but i think girls do need a place to aks questions and fashion is a big thing when wearing a brace!

Good Luck! If i can help with anything, let me know!

Sounds like a great idea. If you set this up, please send me a link. I get involved in support every once in awhile.

You also might consider making the site for guys also. Girls have scoliosis more often and have different issues than guys, but there is some overlap. (For example, social development, brace and skin hygiene, how scoliosis affects people, good books and web sites for reference, etc. There are also many people on MySpace and Facebook that have scoliosis in their profile. Yahoo has a few groups that support people with scoliosis.) Guys often just sort of tough it out. There's not a lot of places to go for support for either gender.
