Scleroderma! My God, can you even begin to imagine the horror?????????? |
My mother has literally been dying of "hardening of the skin" for the last five+ years. And here I always considered Alzheimers the cruelest disease. She bides her time by waiting for this disease to slowly spread then attack her heart, kidney or lung, where it will turn to STONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Can you even imagine the horror??????????? I remember a story that came out the beginning of the summer, it was about a lady that was pregnant, but never gave birth, She had a big stomach, 47 years later, they removed a fetus, that had harden, turned to stone. I am sorry for your Mother, Nobody deserves that. Just be there for her and love her. I'll say my prayers for you and your family. Stay strong. NO ONE deserves this. My Grandmother is slowly dying of breast cancer, and it's horrible. There is absolutely no way my situation can be compared to yours, but I know how it feels to have a loved one in pain and know you can do nothing about it. It's the worst feeling in the world. Hello- Sorry that you and your mother are going through this hell. My father is also going through it- he even has other off shoots of auto immune related to the scleroderma---rynauds is one of them. I can't imagine how horrible the scleroderma is. It breaks my heart to hear of any one dying that way. My father hid his from all of his family for 8 years. My uncle finally called and told me. A few years ago when I found out I offered him stem cells that I had banked when my daughter was born. He refused them. I told him how they could halt the progress of the disease and how doctors thought that they might even reverse the effects of the scleraderma a bit- he said he would never want to live with the level of pain he is at right now in the disease. He must truly be suffering to say that. :( I don't know where your mom's progress is at in the disease but- if you plan on having a baby---SAVE YOUR STEM CELLS from the umbilical cord and placenta. (My sister also saved hers.) It is alittle bit of hope sitting in an icy storage bank. I have done a ton of research on natural alternatives---like omega 3 oils, chlorella, emu oil---there are lots of suggestions. I buy the supplements and send them off to my dad- hoping some thing will ease his pain. Again I am so sorry that your mom is going through this. my mother also has scleroderma. She was diagnosed at about the age of 40. She dosen't have the deadly kind, but its still pretty serious. Not enough research is done on this disease to cure it |
