My mother has scleroderma and her arm have turned dark and are very itchy. Why is that? Scleroderma is an autoimmune disease. It hardens the body, including the skin. The areas on her arms are hardening and have reduced blood flow in them. This is why they appear darker and are itching now. Please go to this web site for the Scleroderma Foundation. They can answer all your questions on what to expect with this autoimmune disease. http://www.scleroderma.org/ go to the doctor It's thick skin, but more than that... my aunt has it. She should see her doctor, it's probably dealing with the circulation in her arms. |
