Sciatica - what do you think?

hi, i have sciatica (as ive said in some other questions)
can sciatica be caused by growing or a rapid growth spert,
ive had the symptoms (shooting pain in hip thigh area) since around 15 now 17 could it be from growing up? (im tall and a good weight for my size)

any docs about
(also when i was about 12 i hit my knee hard on a kerb, causing fluid on the knee and countless trips to the hospital for physio etc, could the growth of my right leg been stunted by this and then had a sudden growth spurt around age 15 causing sciatica or sciatica like pains that i had and still have today)

THANKS FOR THE ANSWERS GUYS

IVE BEEN TO THE DOC PREVIOUSLY

BUT MY RECENT EPISODE WAS THE THE WORST SO I WENT TO THE DOC AGAIN I JUST HAD BLOODS DONE,NOW IM GOING FOR X-RAYS AND TO SEE A SPECIALIST.
the health service is so slow i had to wait 2 weeks for blood tests and even longer for the upcoming rays.

(also i found out, when i first went to the hospital they pushed me aside. i could have seen a specialist a year ago if they were ontop of things, instead they have caused me prolonged agony that interfiers with my education and everyday lifestyle,
i just hope i havent got permanent damage to the sciatic nerve, that could have been avoided.)

i know how you feel. had sciaticafor the past 20 years only when i was checked from head to to toe when i had breast cancer did they diagnose it am waiting to have eppidural in my spine having that this month. the pain is dreadful i keep jumping as if i have lightening in my leg's. keep pushing the doctor for a bone scan it's not right to suffer like i did.good luck.

Read this.

Sciatica usually occurs due to pressure on the sciatic nerve somewhere in the lumbar region of the spine, usually from a budging disk. If you jammed your hip when you hit your knee however you may have pushed your hip socket up far enough to push on S-1 which is connected to the lumbar region of the back. See a doctor.

Sciatic pain is more commonly due to a back problem not a leg or knee problem. Have you had an MRI of your lower back, I would ask your Dr. about that, especially at your young age.

I suffer from sciatica too and its usually brought on if I walk different to normal i.e.like twisted ankle or pain in other area of body. I also get it after standing for long periods of time without resting. I find putting a pillow under my knees when led on back helps relieve it. If you have a knee problem then that could be why your sciatica keeps playing up due to you walking differently due to knee! Wow, that was a lot of words to get to the point. Hope you are still reading LOL

Sciatica is usually the cause of a tight piriformis muscle in your butt. Going to see a Massage Therapist will help alot. They can show you some stretches you can do at home to loosen up your muscles in your low back ,legs and butt, that will help out alot. I'm currently going to school to become a Massage Therapist myself...it has helped me out alot with various muscle issues. Good luck!

Given the information you have, please consult an Osteopath - they will be able to help you a lot.

sciatica like symptoms can be caused by many things please call the body care multi therapy clinic marble arch London as they are the only clinic who have the q science machine developed after 10 years research by DR roberto ciaff neurologist and researcher in uk that can detect origin of muscle or nerve pain and helps correct it call 02072624443 i think they can help you as you are still in growing stages and things can improve when you learn how to manage it and fit the technique into your daily life to enhance its quality best wishes for ahealtheir future

i have had sciatia for longer than one year and am finally getting to see a specialist.in my opinion an xray will not help an you need to examine the soft tissue to see what is happening. push for an mri scan which should identify the problem more accuratly
