Sciatica pain, how do i lie down, i cant get up with rt.leg pain?

severe rt leg pain, sciatica, how do i lie down, cause i cant lift up at all without pain....

Get an iron or heavy head board, that way you can use the headboard to help you turn over without as much pain. They also have hanging support bars that attache to the ceiling above your bed that must be professionally installed according to your weight . You have my sympathy my mother had the same problem .good luck

use a back support

Get someone to carefully give you a massage along your hip line & also your butt cheeks and the side of your hips. Your muscles are pinching your sciatic nerve and causing the radiating pain. When I have this problem, it's due to muscle knots in certain trigger point areas.

High powered pain meds or a muscle relaxer can help. Get a heating pad too.

you will just have to relax and take it easy until it heals itself..
rest and try some Tylenol..
My sister pulled her sciatic nerve and was in bed for 3 weeks, she said the best relief was from simple over the counter Tylenol pm..it was better than anything the doctor prescribed..
she was back to normal in about a month...

When you lie down, it sometimes helps if you put a pillow under your legs to prop your knees up. Stay near the edge of the bed (if it's a wide bed). When you go to get out of the bed, you kind of roll to your side and then swing your legs over the edge and push yourself up with your arm. Sorry. I know how bad that hurts. Don't ignore it too long if it does't go away and you don't know the cause. My husband ended up needing surgery last summer because it was from a blown disk in his back. Good luck. (If the trick for lying down isn't working, you may have to rest in a reclining chair for a few nights.)

Once you do get up, try rolling over onto your stomach then go at it from there, get an appointment to see a chiropractor. They can snap you back into a painless sciatic nerve. There may be some activity that you are doing daily that may be pinching this nerve and I agree it is not fun at all. I went to a chiro and he helped with this problem almost from one treatment.

When you lie down take and place a pillow, a firm one between your legs to take the pressure off of your hips and lower back. Alternate ice and heat for lessening swelling and inflammation. Take over the counter Alleve, which is Naproxsyn sodium which is great for getting rid of inflammation with sciatica. Start out with two tabs initially then follow bottle instructions. Take for a few days with food as it irritates the stomach a little , but it works wonderful for sciatica. I have had it and know. also if you have a soft carpet and a low chair, place your legs up on the chair and lie on your back in a comfortable position letting your muscles relax for awhile. Roll when you get up to the sides not sit-up. this should take care of your problem. Of course sciatica comes back, so mild exercise like walking after the flare -up and stretches will help prevent reoccurance.Good Luck!

Would suggest you get appropriate care from someone who deals with structural problems. Again there is no mention of age or other indicators to allow anyone some critical information..

Headache and back ache are the most common things treated by chiropractors.. Perhaps it is past time for you to get some help with your condition.. the inflamatory process will only progress and involve other areas.

Meds will only reduce the symptoms.. they don't work on the causation!

Find a good chiropractor ASAP! Pain meds will not help you. You might also ice your lower back for 15 minutes, then follow with heat (heating pad, etc). Rest and take it easy till the pain subsides. Good luck, I had been dealing with constant pain until I went to a chiropractor.. it was a blessing in disguise!

I am a chiropractor. Ice the low back until it is numb, do that several times a day. it takes 5-7 days to get the swelling out of a low back, more if you continue to irritate. Go to a reputable chiropractor in your area. In most cases this is an easy problem to correct. Make sure they take x-rays, do a detailed examination and order an MRI if disc injury is suspected. If a disc is involved, look into Spinal Decompression Traction. You'll probably have to pay our of pocket for the decompression, but it's worth it for disc/sciatica. Usually no more than $3k.
