Does anyone else suffer from chronic sciatica pain?

i have had sciatica pain for ten weeks now. my husband is insistent that sciatica goes away sooner than that. i dont think he is right. dont people have chronic sciatica, or is this something i should be worried about having had it last this long. please keep in mind i have a thirty lb. toddler i tote around with me all day........could be affecting it?

I have had sciatica for 14 years and it will most likely never go away. I have damage to my sciatic nerve from a ruptured disc that went misdiagnosed for too long. Toting your child around will certainly make the pain more intense, especially if the cause is a disc that is pressing on the nerve. You really need to see a doctor and have some testing to find the cause of the problem. Only then can you be properly treated for it. Hopefully not carrying your baby around and some physical therapy will help. Please do not wait and end up like me. I am only 33 and this has controlled my entire adult life. Best wishes.

carrying your toddler can deffinately affect the pain. have it checked by a doctor to make sure than nothing else is causing the pain. they can also suggest some exercises to help ease the pain.
good luck, and take care

I dont have it, but I have plenty of patient over the years with it. It may not be sciatica, it could be radiating pain from a disk herniation in your back. You have to have the proper diagnosis. If it is a Sciatic, then it could resolve on its own over time or it can become chronic. Chiropractic adjustments helps. Certain exercises can help. There are injections into the sciatic nerve that will alleviate the symptoms.

My husband had bulging disc that pressed on a nerve. He now has chronic pain because it wasn't diagnosed for a very long time. Please don't go to a chiropracter, go to your doctor, see if you can get an MRI. It may be nothing but 10 weeks is a long time to have pain. You could be causing irreversal damage by ignoring it. Go to the doctor, get some pain relief and make sure your spine is ok.

Sciatica can last forever. The way you are carrying your daughter around could be another reason. You could see a Chiropractor or take pain meds to help. Medication alone may not be enough to manage certain kinds of pain. Some medicines are more effective in fighting pain when they are combined with other methods of treatment. In some cases, the patient's pain condition may respond to treatment instead of medication. In fact, for some patients, certain therapies may eventually replace the need for taking any pain medicine, or less of it, over time. Here are just some of the available treatments being used successfully to treat pain patients: more on the pain tips from http://PainReliefTips.blogspot.com/ .I hope this info helps you Dear. good luck.
