Sciatica in pregnancy?

I have naturally large breasts on a tall, yet small frame. I have always had posture problems.
Before pregnancy started having sciatica trouble. Just mildly however - numbness around thigh etc.
I get back pain etc from posture and having the heavy boobs etc.
I am 16 weeks pregnant and for a few weeks now when i bend down or something I feel the strain down my right buttock down my leg - the sciatic nerve pain. Its been uncomfortable but not too.. interfering.

Since Im no longer working Ive been taking the odd cleaning job. I did this today and perhaps overexerted cleaning windows.

I could not stand up straight and had to hobble trying to get up after a rest thisafternoon lol for 5 min.

Just wondering should i see doc about it. will i need chiropractor or what? will the doc suggest I not work or limit it or get a doctor certificate cause of it? Just wondering where to go from here. Advice or experiences.. im seeing doc in acouple days

You need to learn proper manual handling techniques - the same given to men. You will need to learn how to use bending your knees and crouching to the level of work you are doing. Being pregnant is going to give you all kinds of problems that the severely obese also suffer with. However, if you can get some proper training you can mitigate the worst.
Make sure you go swimming often to take the weight of your body and get exercise to strengthen your 'core'. If you are regularly in pain do not rely on pain killers as you will just be masking the problem. Take care and good luck with the pregnancy.

The most typical cause of sciatic type pain is a bulging disc in the low part of your back. The disc puts pressure on the nerve roots via inflammation and irritates the nerves causing the pain down your leg, numbness and tingling. Pregnancy increases your intra-abdominal pressure, thus putting even greater pressure on the disc, further aggravating the nerve root.

Chiropractors are experts in dealing with these types of problems and studies have proven their effectiveness. Try finding one who is comfortable and experienced in dealing with pregnant women.
