I just found out i have sciatica and I also have herniated disc I want to get pregnant is this a risk?

I was injured in a car accident in 2006 and found out i have herniated disc and I just recently found out I have sciatica. Now I have to have a discogram in a few weeks. I have been off birth control for 14 months and I want to have a baby. Should i wait to consider having a baby, if so how long and are there ways to help myslef get better so i have a healthy baby.

exercise and more exercises. You can have a perfectly normal pregnancy. You may have more discomfort as you get to full term. Esp if the baby decides to rest in the wrong place lol. (mine did ) Got to PT, or a chiro, You will be fine :) Best of luck :)

There's not a risk to the baby unless you are taking certain meds or require surgery, but for your ideal comfort during pregnancy, you should get this under as much control as possible before getting pregnant so that when your uterus is expanding from a growing baby, you would have closer to the amount of discomfort that a normal woman would have in her sciatic nerve. In other words, pregnant women have increasing discomfort with their sciatic nerves as the pregnancy progresses & baby gets larger, so you are already have issues & aren't pregnant. Does that make sense? Follow the directions of your Dr & keep your Physical Therapy appt & exercises. Good Luck
