Schizophrenia and the military???

If someone has schizophrenia and they are in the military, could they get kicked out if the military found out? What if a psychiatrist or psychologist found out?

I know someone who has Schizophrenia and is in the military. They have agreed to go to a psychologist, but I don't know if they decide to reveal that they actually have it, if they will want make them leave...

If a person in the military has Schizophrenia a hearing will be held to determine the soldiers status.

A psychiatrist or psychologist cannot give out information on a client for the information is considered priviledged. If the soldier reveals they are suicidal or homicidal the Dx.'s are required by law to seek immediate help for the client regardless of the clients wanting it.

So no a dr. will not run to the military and say something. If the Dr. is a military doctor this rule may change.

If anybody is in the military, and it's schzophrenia, should tell the doctor, right away!!

I think they go through screening lots of screening before they are admitted. They probably wouldn't get kicked out but would get sent to a Military hospital and given treatment. If you know of someone with this disease in the military you should perhaps bring it to someone's attention.

Yes. They would be relieved of their duty.

That's the trick many use to try to get out and keep their benefits...
