How long does it take for scars to heal? |
I have extensive scarring on my lower arms and thighs caused by razor cuts. These vary in depth and size and were caused between two to three months ago. The scars have faded quite a bit since they first appeared and have now become flat red marks. The deeper ones are slightly silvery and very fine. I am very self conscious of my scars and take every effort to hide them. I am concerned that they will not fully heal. I have had similar scarring before that has completely healed however it was not as deep as this scarring. Will my scars heal and is there any treatment I can get for them to speed up the process? Also, I live in the UK so I'm not sure if some of the creams mentioned here are available to me. I am going to make an appointment to see my doctor to ask about treatment for my scars however, due to the fact I have to rely on the wonders of the national health service I am not sure if he will offer much help. Taking vitamins esp. vit C , D and E will help heal faster. Also try putting on cocobutter or aloe vera on the scars. If you keep your skin supple and flexible it tends to heal faster. If they are through the dermis, scarring will occur. Some never do. Same with scars of the heart. i have had 2 c-sections so i know what i'm talking about: get Palmers stretch mark and scarring lotion. i wish i could remember the exact name but it has cocoa butter which will help to heal them faster and doesn't make your skin smell funky or anything like that. You seem to know a little of what you are talking about, so ill kep my answer short and sweet. It depends on how deep the original cuts were before they scarred over. And it depends on if youre talking about shaving your legs razor or im a cutter razor. I have scars on my feet and ankles from the latter of the two options i just gave you and i have been trying to heal them for a few years, all of them have faded with the DAILY use of cocca butter soap AND lotion and some of the very light ones have almost dissapeared but i have one along the outer ridge of my left foot that repuired stiches and i dont believe that one will ever dissapear completly. I've heard that it takes 6 months for scars to heal and disappear. But of course this depends on the scar and the person. I'm 23 and I have some scars on my back, due to body acne....which I hate btw. Anywho, I use a scar removal cream, which works really well. You can get Mederma, which costs about $13 or ScarZone, which costa about $8. Both work well. I use ScarZone, because it costs less, works just as well, and the bottle is much bigger! Also, rubbing some cocoa butter with Vitamin E in it works great for more daily use! Use mederma. hey dont just watch your scars and wait for them to heal. go to a dermatologist office ASAP! and they can help you out. just last week i told them i wanted to get rid of some scars in my arms because of razors and they told me they couldnt do anything about it because they are old..... yeah it sucks for me because they are deep. they can help you if they are new. so i guess they are right the sooner the better, now GO! |
