Proud of my scars?

I had heart surgery when I was 14 and naturally I have a big scar that travels down the centre of my chest. I am however not ashamed of it and I don't try to cover it up whenever I am in a swimsuit or anything. I don't look at scars as deformities. I look at them as symbols of the obstacles I have overcome. I am proud to show my scar. Any of you agree or have scars that you are proud of?

firstly, well done you for getting through such a serious operation, and its good to hear that you have found strength through your experience.
i have 4 c-section scars that i am very proud of, as each one gave me a beautiful baby. i have 3 girls and one boy.
i also have a stab wound that my violent ex husband gave me. every time i look at the scar, it reminds me of the inner strength that i found, that i didn't even knew i had to leave him. because of the horrendous way he treated me i am now stronger and more independent than ever. all the best for the future hunny. take care xx

good for you , you shouldn't be ashamed of your scars , so Manny people are o ashamed of things like that that they couldn't enjoy some hings in life such as wearing a bathing suit , enjoy life and thumbs to you :-)

yeah, in my head from a bike wreck!

i agree with you totaly. It is good that you arent afriad of showing your scars. I knew this girl who broke her arm real bad and has chains and bolts in it. And she is like ambarresed to show it off and im like why.. its somthing she overcame so she shouldnt be ambarresed its not like a pimple or blackhead or somthing. But very good for you that you are very stong and not shy

I dont have really any scars that people can see but I think its okay for you to let people know the the obstacles you have overcome. You can live your own life however you want...I mean...Who cares what people think?

At age 10 months I was severely burnt by boiling water from a tea kettle that I pulled down from a cart. I was in a coma for 3 months and they gave me my last rites telling my mom I wouldn't survive as I was burnt over 95% of my body with 2nd and 3rd degree burns. Whelp, I did and I still carry a large scar on my upper chest and upper right arm. I too am proud of these scars. They remind me that I had a will to live and how much my mother loves me and took care of me. I don't cover them up and I really don't think about them until someone asks how I got them. I jokingly tell them "it was an alien abduction!"

I also have a 7 year old niece that has ventricular septal defect and has had 2 open heart surgeries to replace her valves. She is a true fighter and I love her so much. She is also very proud of her scars and I hope she keeps that attitude as she grows up.

Hooray for scars!!!!

Yep, above my eyebrow from when I was in preschool. It's not very big but I'm proud of it because not everyone has one so it's special.

I consider scars to be souvenirs from life experiences. They are a part of you and the things you have gone through whether it be from a life changing experience, an accident, or some silly mishap while doing something fun with your friends. I have never considered a scar, or any other deformity or handicap, as something that may detract from the wonderful person who may be inside or consider it any hindrance to outer beauty.

It sounds like you are proud to be alive and if not for the surgery that brought about the scar you may not be. Great attitude!
