Scarlet fever??

okay so i went to the doctors like umm 5 or 6 days ago and the doctor said that i have scarlet fever and strep throat.... she put me on this medicine called cephalexin... and she said to take it for 10 days and if my scarlet fever isnt gone then to go back to the doctors.... well my scarlet fever hasnt gotten any better and ive been getting dizzy and lightheaded lately and i was wondering wt is was from and what happens if i still have scarlet fever after 10 days ....

by the way : the fever part in scarlet fever means a rash ...

Scarlet fever happens when strep throat goes untreated too long. It is easily treated with antibiotics. The rash itself may take a week to disappear after starting antibiotics. If you still have scarlet fever/strep throat after 10 days they will need to put you on a stronger antibiotic to clear it up. Strep does not always respond to the same antibiotics in different individuals.

The dizziness may be due to being sick, the antibiotics or something completely unrelated to the scarlet fever/strep throat. If you are concerned about it call the doctor and ask about it, it is probably ok to ride it out and see if it goes away.

Realize that you have been sick, and your body is weakened ... this may be what is causing the dizziness/lightheadedness. Make sure that you are getting enough to drink because dehydration may also cause it. Sometimes when we have strep throat, the swelling in our throat causes the inner ear canal to also swell and/or fluid to back up the inner ear canal ... if you have sensitive ears the change in pressure can cause a feeling of dizziness. You might want to try taking a decongestant like Pseudophed, it will relieve any swelling in the inner ear canal. If it helps you, know that this is what is causing your dizziness. Also, if it is around the time of your period, the combination of being sick and having your period could be too much for your body to handle.

Don't make scarlet fever sound so old-fashioned. Go online to any search engine and type in "scarlet fever". It's not as bad as you think. It's just like a fever.
